Angela Riley has been the Principal of Riley & Co since 1986.

She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and, as a tax specialist, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

She was the President of the West Yorkshire Society of Chartered Accountants 2007/08, Treasurer and Trustee of Age Concern Calderdale, a Governor of Rishworth School and Treasurer of Halifax Hockey Club.

She speaks French and enjoys international classic car rallies.

Simon Walton became a partner in November 2003. He originally joined the firm in 1991. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has extensive experience within the tax environment having started his career working for the Inland Revenue.

Simon sits on the regional Working Together Initiative panel. This is a consultation forum between the Inland Revenue and tax professionals.

Vicky became a partner in Riley & Co on 1st August 2005, having joined Riley & Co as Audit Manager in 1999. Her previous experience includes qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in a large
independent practice before moving to the national firm Robson Rhodes. Vicky spent several years in industry working as financial controller for firstly a new start up owner managed business followed by a multi-million turnover plc.

In her spare time Vicky is a keen supporter of Halifax RLFC. She is married to Dan, and they have two young daughters. She is a Governor of Calderdale College and chairs the Finance and Resources committee.

Sarah joined Riley & Co in August 2005 from Bousfield Waite where she had worked since leaving university. She is Riley & Co's Charity Accounts Manager.

Sarah has passed her ACCA and ATT professional exams and holds the ICAEW Diploma in Charity Accounting, Sarah is one of Riley & Co’s best qualified Accountants.

In her spare time Sarah is a trustee and treasurer at Voluntary Action Calderdale and she is married to Dan.

Paul Jones is the Assistant Audit Manager. He also manages our company secretarial services. Paul has extensive experience of working in practice. Prior to joining Riley & Co in 1999 he spent 12 years with an independent firm in Leeds. Paul is fully conversant with all of the Companies Act statutory obligations.

Paul is a follower of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He is married and has a son and a daughter.

Bernie has been with Riley & Co since August 2005, having worked since she left school for well established Accountants in Bradford. She had a good training there and came to Riley & Co as an experienced accounts senior, she has now become Accounts Supervisor and has recently qualified as an MAAT. She and her husband Keith play the cornet having been members of various brass bands including Stocksbridge and Todmorden. Amongst other venues they have played at the Albert Hall and the Houses of Parliament.

Farzana joined our team in July 2006 as an accounts senior, having left from a well established firm of accountants based in Bradford. She has done a BA Honors degree in accountancy & finance and is currently doing her final stage in her professional ACCA papers.

Her experience also includes working in the industry for 2 years where she became a former trustee for ‘Mayfield Trust’ which deals with people with learning difficulties.

Farzana’s hobbies include shopping and trying out her cookery skills amongst her family and friends.

Lisa joined Riley & Co from college and has qualified as an MAAT and is currently studying for her ACA.

She likes exotic animals and owns a baby Bearded Dragon called Gordon. She enjoys eating out, going to the cinema and visiting new places in her spare time. She is currently training to do the Great North run in September.

Lisa is a wizard with computers and is Riley & Co’s IT co-ordinator.

Ashleigh joined Riley & Co in August 2007. She left Huddersfield New College with A-levels in Economics, Business, Geography and an A-S in Maths and is now at Babington Business College doing NVQ level 4 in accounts.

Ashleigh enjoys swimming, skiing and shopping. She is a gold participant in the Duke of Edinburgh’s award and carried out her gold expedition in 2005 in India for 3 weeks.

She has also achieved a 200 hours certificate for being a millennium volunteer.

Daniel joined Riley & Co in September 2009 as a business consultant. Daniel is a Chartered Accountant and has a wide financial and general business management experience after running two large manufacturing and service businesses.

He is currently running the Financial Health Check service that is sponsored by Business Link Yorkshire.

Daniel is a keen supporter of Halifax RLFC and Old Rishworthians RUFC.

Matthew joined Riley & Co from School and has worked his way through payroll and tax exams and now with Tony and Margaret runs our personal tax compliance department and soon will be training in corporate tax. He is Riley & Co’s registered first aider. Matthew has passed his ATT and is now studying towards his CTA.

He supports Blackburn Rovers and plays open age football for Greetland AFC.

Tony joined the firm in 2001 after gathering a wealth of experience within the financial services industry working for banking, investment and insurance organizations for the last 25 years. He has gained the Chartered Institute of Insurance’s Financial Planning certificate. He has recently passed the the Institute of Indirect Taxation VAT Compliance Diploma and is now Riley & Co's VAT expert.

Tony is a sports enthusiast who plays squash for Queens Sports Club.

Margaret came to Riley and Co from Bousfield Waite, having trained and worked there since she left school. She is a very experienced tax senior having also done trust work.

She recently completed an Open University degree and now has a BA (Hons) in Hummanaties. She is married with two children who are young adults.

Sandra runs Riley & Co’s payroll bureau.
Previously she had worked for almost 25
years at Yorkshire Water where she had
extensive payroll and accounting
responsibilities.

John runs Riley & Co’s company secretarial department. He was works accountant for many years at FKI Electricals in Sowerby Bridge.

He was the Yorkshire over 55 Squash champion and is former Treasurer of the Queens Sports Club in Halifax.

Stephanie joined Riley & Co in October 2006 as an Administration Assistant after leaving Hipperholme & Lightcliffe High School with good GCSE results. She has gained NVQ level 2 in Business & Administration at Calderdale College and is now studying towards level 3.

Tony joined Riley and Co in spring 2008 part time having retired from The West Yorkshire Police in 2001. Since then Tony has had spells back working for the Police in an agency capacity investigating several murders.

He is manger of Greetland AFC in his spare time and also enjoys history and guitar playing.
