Movember Update!

Following our news item posted on 16/11/2011 we would like to announce that Riley & Co have so far raised £1,692.

We would like to thank everyone who supported us and helped us raise such a substantial amount for such a good cause.

Riley & Co grow fuzz for Movember

Riley & Co hope their latest fund raising efforts won’t be too taxing for clients or colleagues.

Sixteen staff are donning face fuzz for Movember in memory of a much loved colleague who died last month.

Even the ladies have joined up wearing fake moustaches, while the men including tax partner, Simon Walton, are cultivating moustaches determined to earn as much cash as they can for the charity that raises money and awareness for prostate cancer.

Riley & Co has always supported Movember but this year their efforts are more poignant coming as it does just weeks after the company secretarial expert, John Hoad, lost his 11 year battle with prostate cancer. For some of the team this year’s Movember has even greater significance as their own lives have been touched by prostate cancer.

Vicky Atkinson, who is team captain and has already posted her moustached photograph on the official Movember website recently found out that her father, Mike Riley had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“My dad had surgery in the summer for prostate cancer and thankfully has just been given the all clear. It has been a very worrying time for the whole family and has spurred me on to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity and also help to raise awareness about the importance of men’s health.”

So far the team has raised £300 with many more donations anticipated. Anybody wishing to donate can do so via the official website uk.movember.com.

Riley & Co are joining forces with The Last Friday Club who also have entered a Movember team. On 25 November,12.30 at Bar Eleven the business networking group will be holding an auction and judging the best moustache and will even have a special sporting guest attending the lunchtime networking event.

In loving memory of John Hoad

We are very sorry to announce the death in October of our much loved colleague John Hoad. John joined us in 2004 and was responsible for our company secretarial matters. Our sympathy is sent to his wife Chris and the rest of his family. He will be sadly missed for his dry humour and his excellent and high quality technical work.


As a tribute to John this month we are now raising funds for the ‘Movember’ prostate cancer support charity.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

So 52 St Johns Lane is currently a ‘facial hair zone’. Any men wishing to join us by growing some sponsored facial hair are most welcome and we have support from friends At Queens Sports Club where John was a long time squash champion.
