Is your Company’s cash working as hard as you are?

Date posted: May 1, 2014

If your Company has funds on deposit which are not needed for working capital or planned expenditure in the foreseeable future, it may be worth considering alternative investments.

Record low deposit rates and the ever present threat of inflation mean that your Company’s cash is likely to be losing its future buying power in real terms.  High personal tax rates also make it restrictive (but not impossible, with careful planning) to distribute money out of your company.  Now might be the time to consider a corporate investment to maintain the value of your Company’s money and increase its tax efficiency, accepting that investments represent a greater level of risk than cash.

We are hosting a complimentary Breakfast Seminar together with Robert Pilnick from St James’s Place, at The Shay Stadium, Shaw Hill, Halifax, HX1 2YS on Thursday 15th May 2014, commencing at 8.00 am (with bacon butties and refreshments), finishing at 10.00 am.

The St. James’s Place presentation will cover the following hot topics:

  • Diversification and the potential for higher returns than cash in the medium to long term;
  • How this may reduce tax;
  • An effective exit strategy;
  • How this year’s Budget has increased the attractiveness of pensions as a home for Company cash.

Riley & Co, will cover the following related key tax issues:

  • How to extract cash tax efficiently – using family members, A B C shares etc;
  • Opportunities to reduce CT – green cars, pension contributions, AIA increase;
  • Entrepreneurs Relief – trading vs investment company;
  • Cessation of trade – capital distribution, drip-feed dividends.
